UniFi Setup
Proximity connects to your UniFi controller using a local admin account. Ubiquiti SSO accounts (the ones tied to your unifi.ui.com login) are blocked by the local API and will not work.
To create a local admin account:
- Open your UniFi Network controller (e.g.
https://192.168.1.1) and sign in with your Ubiquiti account - Go to Settings → Admins & Users → Add Admin
- Choose Local Access Only as the account type
- Set a username and password — these are what you'll enter in Proximity
- Assign at least Network Admin role for the site
On UniFi OS devices (Dream Router, UDM, UDR), you can also do this at unifi.ui.com → select your site → System → Admins & Users. Look for the option to add a local (non-SSO) admin.
Once created, enter the local admin username and password in Proximity's Router settings. The gateway IP is your router's LAN address (typically 192.168.1.1).
